In September 2025 during an Apple Event, Apple provided a mega launch for its fans announcing their new iPhone 17’s, Apple Watch Series 11, AirPod Pro 3, and the brand new iPhone Air. During the launch they detailed pricing for each product as well as release date information. One could imagine the brand new iPhone Air stole everyone’s attention with its innovative technology.
Apple Air’s History
While the iPhone Air is the first “Air “product in the smartphone line, the “Air” technology is not new to Apple products. Apple first introduced the “Air” product line in 2008 with their release of the MacBook Air. Later they would release an 11-inch model that offered a smaller more compatible MacBook rather than the original 13-inch model. After a few years they decided to discontinue the 11-inch model and continue on developing the 13-inch model instead. Later in 2013 Apple released it’s iPad Air to offer a much lighter version than the original, and later in 2018 they offered a version to bridge the gap between the Air version and the Pro version. Also in 2016 Apple released it’s culture changing AirPods. A true wireless lightweight earbud that changed the world, and in later models offered noise cancellation.
Reception of the iPhone Air
General reception of the iPhone Air announcement went okay. The most common reception was either loving the idea or completely hating it. Of course with it’s steep price of $1,000 it would shake away a few future customers. As well as the concerns for battery life due to the significant weight that it was dropping. To make the phone even lighter they even removed the fan favorite 0.5 lens camera which turned away potential customers. Many Apple lovers made the connection of how similar the iPhone Air resembles a certain model of the Google Pixel. However, with the “Air” making its first appearance into the iPhone realm fans were still eager to get their hands on it.
Review of the Phone
While many influencers were harsh on the actual phone itself, there were articles that gave the iPhone Air its flowers. TikTok influencers calling it an “iPhone AirBall” and journalists labeling it better than expected but for the “early adopters” leaves the true judgement to the customer themselves. To some, the phone is much better than anticipated but it is still clear that Apple is in the early stages of development to make the iPhone Air a true winner.

Hey Jaden, this was really interesting great work. I really like the idea of how small and thin this new iphone air is. I definitely think the phones have gotten to big and heavy. I’ve heard good things about the camera as well, that there are new ways you can crop and frame photos as you’re taking them. Not that I will be getting this phone, $999 a bit steep.
Hey Jayden, this was really interesting, great work.
I really like the idea of how small and thin this new iPhone Air is. I definitely think phones have gotten too big and heavy, so this seems like a step in the right direction. I’ve also heard good things about the camera, with the size of the phone and all that. There are new ways you can crop and frame photos as you’re taking them, which sounds like a smart way to make up for losing the 0.5x lens.
