Office Siren, Corporate Core, Bayonetta Effect

Dear reader,

Fashion trends seem to come and go faster than the seasons change. The newer and more niche trend is the “Office Siren” aesthetic and I am very much here for it. This style is more conservative and emphasizes classier dressy outfits (something you would wear if you worked in an office basically). This is a trend I see securing its place in the books although there hasn’t been a huge boom on social media. You can see it almost everywhere if you take a step into an office or outside your overpriced New York flat. An important factor of this trend is also sustainability. You can find a lot of the pieces at your local thrift store or second-hand at an online vintage store. Here are a few tips and inspiration if you want to try out this style:

  • Tailored Silhouettes: If you choose to wear a blazer make sure it has clean lines and is structured nicely to your body. It will look very seductive but professional conveying sophistication.
  • Monochromatic Palette: Wearing neon bright colors in an office is just disrespectful to your co-workers and society in general. Sticking to a monochromatic color palette is sleek and modern. Classic colors like black, white, gray, or navy should be the foundation of your wardrobe. It also gives you a lot to work with when coming up with outfits because these color pairings seem to always work together seamlessly.
  • Bold accents: There should be a statement piece with every outfit. A large droopy red bag or a pair of kitten heels would add so much to your monochromatic outfit.
  • Minimalistic Makeup: You should wear how much makeup you like but keeping makeup simple is the best for this office look. It should look more mature, choosing one element to dramatize. You could incorporate a classic red lip or a simple eyeliner to add a touch of glamour without being too overpowering.
  • Glasses: Contacts are out, glasses are in. Specifically smaller rectangular framed glasses. This is a big part of the corporate core and many people have gotten inspiration from the Japanese video game character Bayonetta.
  • Attention to detail: Small details like the fit of your clothes, well-groomed hair, and polished nails contribute to an overall put-together look and classy appearance.

Now that you have your outfit together, where would you wear it? The answer is anywhere. The nice thing about this outfit is by removing or adding to it you could wear it to the bar or wear it at a local cafe. The versatility of the theme is what makes this trend so effortless. This trend is not only catered to women but men could express it too. With a pair of nice loafers, a blinged-out watch, or a tie to tie it together. Thank you for your time and get back to me as soon as you get this!

Sincerely,

Cindy Mai

  1. Hi Cindy! I loved reading your blog post, and I definitely noted some of the fashion tips you mentioned. I am also here for the “office siren” trend, as it is helping me embrace wearing my glasses instead of my overpriced contacts. I think this trend is here to stay since it is so minimalistic and I enjoyed hearing your take on it!

  2. Hi Cindy! I love how you listed what makes a “office siren” outfit and how to acheive this look. I thought your blog was so interesting in that workplace fashion doesn’t seem to be a big conversation for our generation. I think we all enter our first jobs with a lax attitude. I think your advise can help the Gen Z employee dress their best, most comfortable and still be fashion forward as a younger person.
