Tik Tok’s algorithm has caught all users by surprise in recent years. Its way to create a viral video and share it to peoples’ “For You Page” (FYP) is quite astonishing. The algorithm knows exactly who is going to like the video based on other videos they watch and that is something people trying to get into the content creator business need to look out for. Just because they have one viral video does not mean they will become the next big thing since everyone has the same probability of getting on each others’ for you pages.
The beauty and fashion industry has become completely saturated with influencers trying PR to make money from brands that they do not actually use. Viewers would rather see a real and authentic review or “get ready with me” (GRWM) that shows the user’s personality. Standing out on Tik Tok can be incredibly hard nowadays since everyone has the same chance of getting on the FYP.
Since there are so many micro-influencers out there, the best way to get your foot in the door and move a step closer to an influencer would be by following trends. There are so many trends constantly circulating Tik Tok, so there are many opportunities these micro-influencers can take to jet-set their influencer era. The way to attract attention and new followers on a platform full of people trying to accomplish the same goal, they need to put their own twist and personality into the video.
Besides the most important practice of being authentic and letting your own personality shine through, some other practices for small content creators on Tik Tok would be as followed:
- Use hashtags relating to your content. This will reach a wider audience that has the same interests as you.
- Partner with other influencers who align with your brand, image, and values. This will allow for both your audiences to combine and receive more followers since you are building credibility and expanding your reach.
- Engage with your audience. It is so easy to respond to a comment by uploading a video, and those types of videos tend to exceed peoples’ expectations. It is such an easy way to show a sense of community and connection to your audience.
- Track your analytics. Tik Tok provides free insights on all your videos and they are incredibly insightful. Even just looking at what content has the most shares is an easy way to see what your viewers are sharing others so you are receiving a bigger reach.
Overall, Tik Tok is a highly engaging platform with all the moving parts and trends it has to offer. The beauty and fashion industry has changed so much over the recent years because of Tik Tok’s effect. It is easy to engage with your audience and grow your brand with its algorithm-driven feed. By tapping into the trends, Tik Tok enables creators to showcase what they love to do with their audience.
