Spotify is not just an app for music, but turning into a source of social media with its partnership with instagram.
Instagram is a social media app all about connecting with your friends and showing what you are doing throughout your life. A user can post pictures, stories of what they are doing at that moment, messaging with friends either one to one or as a group chat. Now instagram, through threads and now daylists are adding to their variety of social media services.
A lover of music knows that art and music is all about one’s personality. Now with spotify daylists and their partnership with instagram it is becoming more of a trend and a source of social media.
Just like social media posts that have captions, spotify daylists have unique names for each user. These daylists have become people’s personalities and acting like stories on instagram. Some of these names have started to become more like captions.
These daylists have been evolutionized into stories and have become a trend that users are using to express themselves which has made many others do the same.
This trend has also been talked about on “X” making it seen and heard of by even more people.
This campaign is looking to build instagram as more of just a stereotypical social media site by adding spotify. It is looking to be more for all around types of users to share everything that they want to share, like music. Spotify is also gaining an edge by using this campaign to gain traction with more users by partnering with instagram. If you are an instagram user, but not a spotify user then you are not able to partake in this trend, which gives the user a need to download and become a spotify member.
Looking at this campaign it looks like a win-win for both sides because of the pros that both companies will be gaining through this partnership. With traction already gained through spotify wrapped, daylists should be another win for spotify in gaining traction for their app/service.

Hey Alex! This is a really interesting post. I just learned recently about the Spotify daylist thing through a hilarious Instagram reel, so it’s really interesting to read about their actual partnership with Instagram and how that is spiking daylist searches. It was definitely a smart partnership as people were clearly already talking about it on the site, so creating an official campaign allowed them to capitalize and take control of the conversations.
