What is Canva? Canva is a graphic design platform that offers templates and tools to create graphics, presentations, resumes and other visual designs. The app is available in a free version and paid subscription plans that offer additional access to content. It is so easy to create on the go and edit designs from multiple devices.
Canva is on the rise lately, both personally and professionally. There are three plans that bundle services making them easy to tailor to your needs. They make it easy to access color-specific templates, use a variety of complementary fonts, save your favorite templates and collaborate with others.
The free version grants users access to over 8,000 templates, hundreds of design types, photos and videos. The free version is a solid foundation for basic graphic designs and quick presentations.
If you want to access more templates, photos and videos, then upgrading to Pro is your best option. This plan gives you the most access for the price.
But, if you want to collaborate with a larger group, the Enterprise plan is for you. This plan allows for a cohesive brand identity across all templates. This subscription could elevate companies’ graphic content by providing cohesive, fast and aesthetically pleasing content.
One of my favorite features of Canva is its array of fonts. Sometimes it’s hard to pick the right font, so Canva has a blog that shows the best font pairings per situation and anatomy of typography. Choosing the right font pulls a presentation together or gives your resume that extra flare. Canva pairs complementary fonts with its templates which makes the task easier.

- Didot and Poppins Light
- Shirkhan and Glacial Indifference
In a blog by Canva staff member, Canva’s co-founder and COO Cliff Obrecht said that “Canva’s accelerated growth is indicative of the “new normal”, as more teams realize the need for a more scalable, more collaborative, more affordable and more user-friendly design platform.” Canva has helped so many people create a cohesive brand, not only companies but individuals.
The pandemic took a hit on many businesses, and online platforms were lucky to have a boom, and Canva was one of them. Canva has grown as a company, and its presence in the workforce is more prominent. Their record growth through the pandemic shows just how much our digital world relies on creative platforms. Since everything is online and zoom presentations run our lives, it makes sense they are doing so well.
Canva eases the stress of the graphic design process so anyone can use it. I highly recommend this app for your next graphic projects to spice up your slick deck.

I use Canva all the time for my assignments and team projects. It takes a little bit of time to learn how to fully utilize all the features but I highly recommend it to everyone. The templates are so cute and so easy to customize. Knowing how to use Canva is definitely a bonus on your resume!
This was a very useful and informative post! Canva has been an essential tool for me during my college career. I use it all the time, but never knew about the blog that suggests font combinations. I’m so glad I know about that now because I always struggle with how to use fonts. I also didn’t know about enterprise and that will be a good thing to have in the future.
I always use Canva. Last week it was the only thing I was using for three different classes. I like how Canva looks more professional than Google Slides and is just as easy to use, even with a group. I love all the different templates and how many different things you can do. It’s not just for slide decks, you can also use it for Instagram posts.

This is such a great tool to showcase for J students! Throughout my time at the SOJC I’ve used it in almost every class because it allows you to increase the design elements of your work in a pretty user friendly way. I also loved the font combinations you included, Poppins light is currently my go-to!
Canva is such a great website. You can make great looking graphics without the need to have software like photoshop. I really like how simple it is to use as well. Canva is definitely a site that I’m going to be using for a long time.
