In today’s world the internet is growing faster than ever. Let’s take a look back to 2012, which seems like lightyears ago, according to quora.com, in 2012 alone over 51 million websites were created! That means about a 140,000 new websites each day. But let us fast forward to today and there are over 1 billion websites in total on the world wide web (www.internetlivestats.com). That means there is pretty much a website for every 8 people in the entire world. Case and point… There’s a lot of websites out there. So how do people find you?!

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. This is the way people can find you on the web. Many digital marketing agencies, like king kong seo, specialize in this field. Now a quick definition from Google: “SEO is the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.” THANKS GOOGLE!

Most businesses decide to make the leap to using SEO when they want to increase their customer base. Before they can do this they have to take advantage of the free seo audit tools that are available across the internet. Even smaller, and newly-established businesses may consider using this method when they want to get up and running in the best way possible. As a result, you may want to Google “Everything you need to know about SEO for your website” before establishing whether this is the best route for you to go down, or whether you should conduct some more research first. But if business owners speak to other entrepreneurs in their area, they’re sure to come to the realization that search engine optimization is one of the best marketing techniques that you can implement in your business.

But the big question is how?!

Now there is a lot of literature out there explaining how to do this, but one thing comes at a shock while still having a “duh” factor to it. Get a Google+ account! In our Wednesday class, Feb 22, Kent Lewis came to speak with us and mentioned many ways to make it easier to get noticed on the web. One thing was for certain though, when he asked if any of us had a Google+ account the crowd went silent… well more silent since we were all quiet to begin with, but there wasn’t a Google+ account within a stones throw of the room. He then continued to lead us through a talk about why it actually is extremely important to have this account for any business that has a presence on the web, especially if the business in question is trying to apply some SEO tactics or even employ a company similar to this référencement google suisse, in order to complete SEO processes for their business to jump rankings in a Google search page. His first piece of advice for our final projects was to actually tell our clients “Get a Google+ account!” Here is a link for a few quick tips about what to do with your new found affinity for your Google+ account Social Media Examiner

  1. Great post! First of all, love how you start with a shameless plug to your LinkedIn (why didn’t I think of that!). I also really enjoyed how easy you made it to digest. The definition by google and key stats made this idea very concrete. Wow, can’t believe that in 2012 alone over 51 million websites were created! However, I don’t know how much I would personally trust Quora and might have been more powerful if you used current stats from a more reliable source. You end strong with a quick video from the experts. Good Job!

  2. This was definitely the most unexpected thing Kent said all day. I literally don’t know a single person who uses Google+. BRB, making a an account – gotta get my personal brand to the top of the search results!

  3. I would have liked more information on Google + and surely there must be more techniques and tips to improving your SEO than getting an account on Google +. This is good information however, I’m hoping in the future I’ll be involved in starting a business from the ground up, and I can only imagine an important part of growing it will be with SEO.
